September 14, Day of the Charro.

Charros are an integral part of the history of Mexico and their origin dates back to colonial times, when the Spanish taught the locals to ride horses, in order to control and care for the cattle on their farms. Little by little, this practice was refined and developed unique traits, even through challenging historical periods. For example, during the War of Independence, horseback figures have innumerable appearances and attributions.

Currently, charros and escaramuzas are not only found in the cultural landscape of the country but also make professional exhibitions full of tricks and surprises, showing their great talent. Every year, on September 14, the Day of the Charro is celebrated as part of the many Mexican national holidays.

September 15, the Grito de Dolores.

212 years ago, Don Miguel Hidalgo preceded the famous Grito de Dolores, summoning the Mexican people to rise up in what finally ended up being the War of Independence. Beyond the historical myths and legends, this event resulted in the consolidation of an independent country, and today it is commemorated with a festival full of patriotism, fun, and the occasional culinary delight.

On September 15 at night, visit the town square, in front of the church, to participate in the replica of the Grito de Dolores and the kermés, with its many food stalls and crafts where you will find a bit of everything, from a delicious pozole to colorful portraits of the heroes of the country and much more. The Plaza del Sol is located two blocks from the hotel toward the beach, in front of the San Francisco Church – it is surrounded by nature and typical magical town buildings.

September 16, Independence Day.

You didn't think the party was going to stop there, did you? After the Grito de Dolores and a night recovering from the party, on September 16 you can enjoy an incredible, colorful parade through the main streets of the town. There you will see children dressed as the protagonists of Mexican history, dancers with their huge traditional skirts, and if you are lucky, one or two allegorical cars, along with some charros and escaramuzas riding.

This parade marks the end of the many Mexican national holidays, but there is still much more to celebrate.
