The vibrant and colorful Day of the Dead Festival in Sayulita

Día de Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is a Mexican tradition that needs no introduction. It is a special date on which we remember our loved ones, setting up vibrant altars decorated with soft paper, colorful flowers, candles, and lots of love. It is one of the most anticipated festivities and also one of the most beloved ones, not only because of its beautiful meaning but also because the streets are filled with people who eagerly go to the many festivals throughout the republic.

From the legendary visits to the island of Janitzio to the modern catrina parades, each celebration and offering has its own thing. In Riviera Nayarit, one of the biggest cultural events around it is the Sayulita Day of the Dead Festival, full of energizing music, delicious national dishes, and entertaining shows where impressive local talent comes gets all the spotlight.

The #VivanLosMuertos festival, which this year celebrates its tenth edition, has been cooking since February and inspires participation throughout the region: from local artists with a special talent for decoration to restaurants and bars such as Barracuda 200 or Luna's Mexican Food. They all choose to come together to create something wonderful.

From October 31 to November 2, the main square dresses up for a party, with spectacular scenery, ecological garlands – made of nothing more and nothing less than recycled fabric – and delicate papier-mâché figures. Dare to participate in this incredible Mexican tradition and get ready to live an unforgettable moment.
